We love a good mashup, and we’ve covered plenty of them (super hero-themed sneakers, Star Wars characters in Thomas Kinkade paintings, logos, just to name a few). We’ve seen about a million versions of fan art, too, so it’s especially exciting when someone does a wholly original and unique spin on the mashup genre. Chicago-based artist Alex Solis nailed it with his Icons Unmasked series.
There are plenty of famous characters in film and TV, but what if these characters weren’t what they seem? What if they were actually moonlighting as other characters? In this clever series, we learn the secret identities of popular characters. Who knew that Mr. Burns was actually Donald Trump? Or that ET was actually the more sinister Alien?
You learn something new everyday.
